SMART Goal #1 Reflection-Amber Naylor Playing on Guitar and Singing
.jpg)

Information about SMART Goal #1: This SMART Goal is me/ Amber Naylor playing on guitar and singing through performances at my 2nd placement school and practices at my house and at an old age home. I have practiced at least twice a week at my house and/or at an old age home. I had to play at least ten different songs in order to count a day of practice. I performed with my guitar and singing at my 2nd placement school. I had to play at least three or more songs unless I had no control over certain situations such as responsive behaviors that occur while I play. I also made an exception that if the teacher was away and a supply teacher came in and said no, that would also be ok. I did have a strike chart system if I had no reason to complete the practices and performances on a week but I did not have to the strike chart because I did complete my practices and performances accordingly. I have created on "Google Docs" some charts which I had to answer each section, and color code and underline my calendar. You will see my evidence and more of my SMART Goal #1 under my "Evidence of SMART Goal #1" of this website. I decided to do this SMART Goal which is to perform and practice playing the guitar and singing because it will help the students try something new, but at the same time to have a routine. I also did this SMART Goal because music is so much fun to listen and play for everyone including students and staff members (teachers and EAs). Other reasons are that students can learn new vocabulary (words) and learn different music forms. I did some practices at my house and an old age home because practicing music will help me improve with my guitar and singing and practicing helps me to review my guitar and singing for the performances. My SMART Goal started on October 17th, 2018 and ended on December 5th, 2018.

How did the First SMART Goal go?
The First SMART Goal went very well.
I will mention about my performances first.
The performances went really well. All the staff members (teachers and EAs) and the students really enjoyed my performance which is me playing my guitar and singing. Some EAs have asked if I am going to play some more music. There are other students right beside the classroom that I played and they commented on how much they enjoyed the music. The audience at my 2nd placement school grew over time and this SMART goal was a giant success. Some of the staff members and students were singing to some of my songs too which was great. This SMART Goal got everyone together in a positive way because everyone wanted to be a part of the music. I have seen some students and a teacher play those tube things and other instruments to play while I was playing my guitar and singing. I loved doing the performances. Now I will mention my practices. My practices also went well. Most of my practices were at my house but, two of my practice days were at an old age home. I performed in front of old people, visitors including my family and the staff members from the old age home really enjoyed me playing my guitar and singing. In this SMART Goal, I considered these two performances as my practices and practice days for my 2nd placement school performance and for this SMART Goal. The practices were fun but it did take some time to practice. Sometimes I messed up and continued or started over but I was still able to play some songs. In December, I created a song. I played the song on December 5th, 2018 which was the 18th day at my 2nd placement school. Everyone really enjoyed that song. You can find my song from a video on "Evidence of SMART Goal #1" of this website if you want to listen to it. I also included the lyrics and guitar chords from "Google Docs" under "Evidence of SMART Goal #1" of this website. That video was made at my house after school on December 5th, 2018. Overall, SMART Goal #1 was a grand success.
